I hope you are all doing well as we adapt to this new normal. Here is all the required information on how your children can participate in our class activities. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will be available from 9am to 3pm weekdays for support. If you would rather speak on the phone, please email me for a phone call request and I will call you as soon as I can. I have several daily staff meetings, but my priority is your child’s education.
Quizlet: New Quizlet words are up every day. Students should go on daily, listen to the Flashcards, and repeat the words that are said. This is crucial more than ever because I won’t be with students repeating the words throughout the day. Students can then move on to Learn (especially grade 5 students) and Write (especially grade 6 students). This week, the words will not be tested, but they will be used in the Seesaw activities. Students can use the Quizlet app or go on www.quizlet.com. Each student must sign in to their own account so that I can track who has been participating in the work. If your child cannot sign in, please contact me.
Seesaw: As many of you know, students have been using Seesaw in class to post their work. We will continue to use this platform as it is something students feel comfortable using. Students can use the Seesaw app or go on www.seesaw.com. Students will no longer be scanning into the class account but will have individual codes to sign in. This way, they can keep track of their work and complete assignments. To learn how to sign in and find assignments, please show the following video to your child: https://youtu.be/OHB24Y-ALLY. Your child’s individual Seesaw code will be sent to you today. There are already activities on Seesaw. Students can complete activities and submit them. Activities will be added daily.
Video Calls: Every morning in class, we have been circling up, singing songs, and learning important concepts that will help us with our classroom activities that day. We will be meeting daily at 10amas a class. Students need to sign in with their computer sign in from school. Students are constantly signing into computers at school and should already know what their password is. However, if they have forgotten their username and password, please let me know. If your child cannot make a meeting one day, that is fine.
Classroom Website: All the information about our class can be found here.
We will be learning to use Google Classroom in the coming weeks. It can be difficult to navigate, so we will be introducing it very slowly. We are looking into the best way to offer math lessons and French reading to students. Please be patient as we work on setting this up.
Schedules will look different for different families. Here is a proposed schedule that might help your child organize their day.
9:30am-10am: Independent reading
10am-11am: Class meeting
11am-11:30am: Quizlet vocabulary work
1pm-2pm: Seesaw activities
Again, this is just an example and work can be completed however you feel fit. I am looking forward to seeing your child’s responses to the activities!
Please respond to this email so that I know that you have recieved all the information.
